About the index
What does the Total AI Index Value mean?
The Total AI Index Value is the sum of the AI-attributed public market caps and private valuations of the companies The Artificial Index tracks. Public market caps and private valuations are different instruments, so the total is an indicator of the AI market's scale rather than a tradable figure, and its public and private components are always shown alongside it. Subsidiaries are never valued separately, so nothing is counted twice.
How is AI attribution calculated?
Each market cap or valuation event carries an AI attribution percentage: 100% for a pure AI lab, a smaller share for a diversified company or for the AI division of a larger group. A company's value on the site is its latest market cap or valuation multiplied by that percentage, and is marked with an asterisk.
How often is the data updated?
The site is rebuilt from the database shortly after every data change and at least once a day, so company values, rankings and the releases calendar reflect the latest recorded events.
Where does the data come from?
Public market caps come from exchange data; private valuations, funding and revenue from official announcements, press releases, filings and credible financial reporting. Every financial figure and release links to its source, and figures estimated from secondary sources are marked as illustrative.
